Looking Beyond Disaster: UNESCO Youth Forum

Christchurch 9 -12 December 2011. The Forum will bring together 100 young people from the Asia-Pacific region to share their experiences of natural disaster and to discuss youth and community resilience.

The Forum will bring together 100 young people from the Asia-Pacific region to share their experiences of natural disaster and to discuss youth and community resilience.

The Forum aims include;

  • creating a global network of young people across Asia and the Pacific empowered to share experiences and exchange ideas on disaster and community;
  • international youth projects designed at the conference for implementation in different countries;
  • ongoing facebook and social networking discussions;
  • recommendations to governments, UNESCO and other bodies on youth resilience and rebuilding communities and disaster response;
  • and publications on disaster narratives by youth.

We welcome applicants who have experienced the Christchurch earthquakes or other natural disasters in New Zealand.

Last day for applications: 1 November 2011, 12 noon.
