I
was never a Brownie or Guide does it matter?
No, it doesnt
we welcome anyone who would like to give it a go. There are programmes
and resources available that provide background information. Training is also
offered. What am I letting myself in for? Youre in for
fun as you help others grow. Whether you opt to work with girls, or take on an
administration or support role, involvement is constantly challenging and varied. How
much time will it take? You can give as much or as little of your time
as you are able to spare. It also depends on what you decide youd like to
do. Working with girls generally involves a weekly meeting of two hours plus preparation
work. What do I have to offer? Everyone can help because we
all have special skills and interests to share. Even if youve never thought
yourself a serious outdoorsy person, we can still offer you plenty
of interesting opportunities to make a meaningful and very worthwhile contribution. What
will I learn? Training programmes will provide you with skills in communication,
team building, programme management, and outdoor and indoor activities. You can
also earn qualifications in life saving, first aid, boating, camping and catering.
These are valuable life and employment skills. There is also a Leadership
Training Programme - one for leaders of girls, and one for leaders of adults.
Both programmes recognise prior qualifications, skills, and/or experience acquired
outside the GirlGuiding New Zealand programme.
How do I become a leader? Fill

you in touch with a local contact person. Theyll chat with you about how
youd like to be involved and how much time you have available. Together
you can discuss local opportunities that may suit. Good luck! Make a
