Why is
GirlGuiding only for girls?
We believe it is important that
girls have a chance to experience informal educational opportunities with their
peers outside the school environment.
All girls are different, some prefer to interact in mixed groups, while
others prefer an all female environment.
What age do
you have to be to join GirlGuiding?
From 5 to 18 years old.
How much time does it take up?
Up
to two hours a week. Time at weekend camps and one-off special activities
varies depending on the type and location of the group.
What do you do at GirlGuiding?
Outdoor
adventure, camping and trying new activities. We give girls and women the
opportunity to enjoy a wide variety of social, recreational and community
action experiences that encourage them to develop themselves and help others.
- Acknowledge each
individual by providing flexible and non competitive learning opportunities.
- Have fun.
How much
does it cost?
We try to keep our costs as low as possible so everyone
can join. An annual membership fee helps pay for costs involved in running the
organisation.
What do you
wear?
GirlGuiding New Zealand
has recently introduced a modern, funky and functional uniform. Each age range has
a choice of uniform.
