National Events
GirlGuidingNZ organises a wide range of events for girls to participate. See the details listed below...
Queens Guide Residential
Rangers who have achieved their Peak Award and who are aged 16 ½ years at the time of the residential are invited to apply for the upcoming Queen's Guide Residential.
Participants will take part in a variety of challenging and fun learning activities where they will have the opportunity to extend their skills and knowledge in relation to team building, community action, self evaluation, Queen’s Guide Award recognition and joining networks.
To apply for the residential, please complete an ATC1a application form. This form needs to be signed by your Ranger Leader, confirming that you have met the requirements for attendance. Please send the completed form to learning@girlguidingnz.org.nz
Please do not make travel arrangements until you receive confirmation from us that you have been accepted to attend the residential. We will acknowledge receipt of your application form at the time we receive it, but will not confirm acceptance until around closing date.
Please note: there are a maximum number of places available on each residential. If we receive more applications than places, we will ask the panel of trainers to approve who is selected to attend (priority is usually given to the older girls). We will advise those not selected and place their names on a waiting list.

Jamboree On The Air / Jamboree On The Internet - JOTA/JOTI
The Jamboree on the Air (JOTA) is an annual international scouting and guiding activity in which scouts and guides talk to each other from amateur radio stations. JOTA provides an excellent opportunity to meet Scouts and Guides from many countries and other parts of New Zealand.
The Jamboree on the Internet (JOTI) is held at the same time as JOTA, but it is an internet activity.
The purpose of this event is to learn about radio and internet communications, reach out and connect with girls and guys your age all around the world who have something in common with you!. Make new friendships and learn about each other’s culture and what they do as members of Girl Guides or Scouts in their country.
If your girls have not tried JOTA or JOTI before then make 2011 the year to give it a go!
Walsh Memorial Scout Flying School
Since 1967, Scouts New Zealand’s Walsh Memorial Scout Flying School has provided the highest quality aviation training in the country for budding young pilots aged 16 - 19. In 2011, 67 students attended the very popular two-week long training camp at Matamata.
Closing Date: Applications have now closed for the 2012 flying school.
Dates: Tuesday 10 - Tuesday 24 January 2012
