Tania, myself and Roseabell went in uniform to the homeless shelter in Dunedin and donated a few boxes of biscuits. A thank you letter is on its way and some are being delivered to the Salvation Army. I have attached a photo. They were over the moon so a good cause from the guides.
As our Girl Guide Action Month activity, Wakari Pippins had a wonderful day fundraising for the Brighton Surf Lifesaving Club on Saturday 29 June at our local Fresh Choice supermarket.
The girls (12 Pippins and one Guide participated) very politely asked all customers if they would “please donate a coin to help our life-savers” to add to our coin trail - a sand-castle and sun representing the new clubrooms the Brighton club want to build. Pippins Isla and Charlotte made an amazing team and very few people walked past them without donating.
We raised an amazing $521.20! We chose the Brighton Surf Lifesaving club as we have been working on the Water for Life badge and have extended the water theme through the term. We also had a camp there in May last year and they were so generous with their time and resources so it is nice to be able to pay them back in this way.
Looking forward to our next great adventure.... thinking about a sponsored walk on the world’s steepest street or maybe the length of our main street. The girls may have a few more ideas - so watch this space.

Below are letters from two Brownies who took part in our Sixer/Seconder day (and some Challenge 9) that we hold each year at the Peninsula Brownies to prepare the girls for becoming leaders of their sixes.
It’s a day full of fun where we use the “Me and my Six booklet” and learn about sharing and participation. Over the day we made bird seed feeders and homemade chalk and had BBQ sausages for lunch with homemade butter.
We also had some girls practicing to sell Guide biscuits. They had to design a stall and practice selling and scenarios with customers.

Why not tell us what you have been doing in your unit so far this year?
I know you have been out camping, doing Community Service and generally having a lot of GirlGuiding Adventures - lets show everyone what we have been doing!
