Join us - Nau mai, haere mai - 12,000 girls can't be wrong
Girls and young women involved in our activities thrive in an environment that encourages them to be themselves, while at the same time having fun through friendship and adventure.
Girls and young women involved in our activities thrive in an environment that encourages them to be themselves, while at the same time having fun through friendship and adventure.
It is in this environment of experimental learning that GirlGuiding gives girls and young women the skills and self confidence to embrace life’s challenges so that they can make informed choices so they can make a positive difference to their own lives and the wider world.
Girls 5 - 18 years
Girls can take part in GirlGuiding activities from any age at any time of the year. Girls are encouraged to move onto the next programme at the appropriate time. Although programmes are tailored to four specific age groups, it is easy to join in at any point.
Activities are interactive and ‘hands on’ reflecting the age level while at the same time extending a girls experience and development.
Leaders 18+ years
Our leaders are integral to the organisation being able to provide activities for girls in communities throughout New Zealand. Some leaders choose to take on administration roles in their local area rather than work with groups of girls.
For GirlGuiding it is important that our leaders work in an environment that is a good fit with their skill set and interest. Initial and ongoing training ensures leaders are well equipped to work with girls and/or provide support to other women in leadership roles.
Volunteers
We welcome parents of our girls or any other members of the community who would like to share their skill, or simply volunteer to support the organisation. There are a wide variety of ways we can utilize the skills and times of volunteers. These can range from assisting with group programmes through to transport assistance to being part of a short term taskforce or committee.
