Why is GirlGuiding only for girls?
We believe it is important that girls have a chance to experience informal educational opportunities with their peers outside the school environment. All girls are different, some prefer to interact in mixed groups, while others prefer an all female environment.
What age do you have to be to join GirlGuiding?
From 5 to 18 years old.

Pippins: 5-6 years

Brownies: 7–9 1/2 years

Rangers: Year 9 - 18
How much time does it take up?
Up to two hours a week. Time at weekend camps and one-off special activities varies depending on the type and location of the group.
What do you do at GirlGuiding?
Outdoor adventure, camping and trying new activities. We give girls and women the opportunity to enjoy a wide variety of social, recreational and community action experiences that encourage them to develop themselves and help others.

- Have fun.
How much does it cost?
We try to keep our costs as low as possible so everyone can join. An annual membership fee helps pay for costs involved in running the organisation.
What do you wear?
GirlGuiding New Zealand has recently introduced a modern, funky and functional uniform. Each age range has a choice of uniform.

Is GirlGuiding a religious organisation?
No. GirlGuiding New Zealand is not a religious organisation and acknowledge all cultures and faiths. Members are encouraged to take an active part in the religion or beliefs of their family and community.
